Hi, and welcome back to Nieshia Tionne’s Blog! I hope you are having a productive, exciting day.
Today I want to discuss with you my top three ways to be more productive. In the world that we live in today, it’s easy to become discouraged and disregard any routine that we may have to be effective in striving towards our goals.
When it comes to being productive, I find that I do best when I have a routine. During the week, for most of the day, I’m home with the kids alone. Since my husband and I have two energetic toddlers, finding time to work on my projects can be difficult.
I’m most productive once they go down for their naps. In that two or three-hour time frame, I use that time wisely to work productively on my writing projects and catch up with some friends I haven’t spoken to in a while.
What methods do I use to complete my daily tasks effectively? Let me share those with you right now!
3 Ways To Be Productive
1. Update your planner daily!
Keeping a planner is essential when it comes to being productive. It’s a great tool to help you keep up with your daily tasks, phone calls that need to happen, and everything in between. When purchasing a planner, especially if you’re a beginner with planning, get a simple planner. There are several different types and sizes of planners to choose from but don’t overwhelm yourself.
2. Create daily to-do lists!
I am a firm believer in creating to-do lists. Yes, I still make them on top of updating my planner daily. Creating to-do lists is perfect for those who do not want to carry around a planner. It’s best to have your list completed either before bed or early the following day. I like to write my daily list in the morning, right after I get the kids prepared for breakfast. While they’re eating, I can go through my calendar and see what I need to complete that day.
3. Take necessary breaks!
Yes, ladies, it’s okay to take breaks! For me, I have this tendency to want to get everything that I need to get done in one sitting. I’ve tried that before, and it usually ends up with me quickly burning out. One thing I would advise is that you use this technique called the Pomodoro Technique. It entails that you work for a certain amount of time (20-30 minutes), and then you take a break (5-10 minutes). I use this technique, and it works wonders for me. Taking more breaks throughout the day allows for more productivity and a clearer mind.
A lot of us are business owners, mothers, wives, friends, sisters, and workaholics. Let’s make sure that we are utilizing the time that we have to be more productive. Update your planner daily, create daily to-do lists, and take breaks between completing all of the tasks you have to complete.
