Hello, everyone! How’s your day going? I hope that it’s going well.
I want to ask you a question:
“What are you doing every single day that helps you to grow, manifest, and achieve the things you want to achieve?”
A few weeks ago, that question came across my mind as I drove my kids and me home from a visit to Gramma’s (my mom’s) house. I rattled off the things that I do every day that I thought helped push me in the right direction:
- I journal constantly.
- I read my Bible at least twice a day (most of the time, I only read it once a day).
- I write content for my blog and books.
- I’m continually looking for ways to grow my skills.
- I read.
As I’m going through the list in my mind, I can’t help but think about all of the things that I do throughout the day that takes away time to do more of the stuff that elevates me.
I don’t want to imagine the amount of time I spend cleaning (I’m a bit of a neat freak). It’s great to have a clean home, but it does become a bit obsessive when it’s taking up most of your day.
Every day you’re blessed to see is an opportunity for you to do more and go after the things weighing on your heart. I’m sure we all say this phrase:
“There’s never enough time in the day to do it all.”
A lot of the time, we do have the time in the day to accomplish goals, but we frequently find ourselves doing things that aren’t important.
How much of your day do you spend doing pleasurable things (watching television, playing video games, binge-watching YouTube videos, etc.)? I’ll be honest and say that I find myself binging YouTube a little more than I should. Although taking breaks throughout our busy days is essential, we should keep in mind not to allow the pleasurable activities to override the crucial tasks of the day.
I want to come on here today to share some exciting things with you. These things you can do throughout the day to help you elevate your skills, mindset and live an overall productive lifestyle.
Let’s get to it!
Do These Tasks Daily!
Reading is fundamental! We should always be reading and learning new things. One book I would recommend you taking time to dive into is Stephen Covey’s “The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People.” This book has helped me to grow as a person.
One of the habits that he speaks about in the book is “Begin with the end in mind.” As we begin new goals, we should try to imagine what the results will be. Having that visualization, in my opinion, helps to push you to keep pressing through even when things get bumpy.
Overall, “The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People” is the book you want to have around you.
Learn something new!
In those moments of the day when you find yourself mindlessly scrolling through social media, use that time to learn something new.
If you’re interested in learning a new language, try Duolingo. That app has helped me to improve my Spanish skills. I’m not fluent yet, but with more practice, I’m sure I will be.
If you’re trying to make your resume stand out, find some online courses to gain more skills. Recently, I’ve made it my mission to earn as many certifications as I possibly can. So, when I can get some peace, I search online for programs that will help me improve my skills.
Whatever it is that you want to learn about, make it a conscious effort to do so! Please don’t wait until you have to learn something to learn it. Do it, now! Make learning an everyday activity.
Journal your progress!
The final thing you should be doing every day is journaling your daily progress. It’s encouraging to keep track of the steps you’re taking to put yourself in a better position.
Keep a journal and record every task that you completed each day. On those days when you feel as though what you’re doing is for nothing, go back and read what you’ve done so far. That should give you the motivation to move forward!
Every day is a gift. Let’s fill our days with purposeful tasks and positive vibes. Yes, you will go through things that may throw you off, but don’t let those things stop you! Keep pressing forward with your head held high.
You got this!
