To say that building and maintaining your self-confidence is an easy task would be the understatement of the year! Since 2018, I’ve worked on building back all of the confidence I’d lost throughout the years, and it has been one of the hardest things I’ve done in my life.
Most days, I wake up with this burst of confidence, ready to take on the day. Other days are a struggle to even look at myself in the mirror. But, on those days when I can barely walk with my head held high, I constantly remind myself of the progress that I’ve made over the years, the accomplishments, and the goals I’ve set for myself.
Throughout this lifelong journey of building and maintaining self-confidence, I’ve come to realize that it takes effort, understanding, and honesty to grow and change. First, we have to ask ourselves, “Why do I lack self-confidence? What happened in my life has caused me to view myself as less than?” Once we answer those questions, we can build a solid foundation to build confidence.
Today’s confidence-building tip is to speak encouraging words over yourself and your life. I know it’s easier said than done, especially when you’re not feeling your best. It’s on those days when it’s the toughest to view ourselves as capable, beautiful, and outstanding that what we speak is most important.
Proverbs 18:21 (KJV) states, “Death and life are in the power of the tongue: and they that love it shall eat the fruit thereof.” The words that we speak have power, which is why we must be careful of what to say about ourselves, our situations, and about others. If you want a prosperous life, an abundant amount of confidence, and an overall healthy life, not only will you have to put in the work and have faith, but you also need to speak life into your life.
Here are a few statements that you can speak over yourself daily:
“I am capable of accomplishing the tasks I’ve set for myself today.”
“My gifts/talents will inspire many people around the world.”
“I am confident, hardworking, and worthy of great things.”
“I exude confidence.”
“I am fearfully and wonderfully made.”
Those are some of the encouraging phrases that you can say over yourself daily, but feel free to come up with your own.
